Utilizing Domestic Energy Resources
Rising gas prices are forcing hardworking families and small businesses to stretch their budget's even further. That is why I believe in an "all-of-above" energy approach that opens up more domestic resources, reduces our dependence on foreign oil, and helps put people back to work.
Below are actions I have taken to encourage the use of domestic energy and help lower gas prices:
- Supported several domestic oil production bills which put people in America back to work and will help lower the cost of gas. (H.R. 1938, H.R. 1229, H.R. 1230, and H.R. 2021; Status- Passed the House of Representatives)
- Toured the Midwest Generating Station in Waukegan to learn more about their efforts to power the 10th District of Illinois.
- Co-Sponsored the Gas Act which would eliminate fuel monopolies that raise the cost of gas. (H.R. 1412; Status- Introduced in the House of Representatives)
- Put forward an "all-of-the-above" energy plan that makes tax credits for renewable fuel permanent, allows new energy in Illinois to be tapped in an environmentally responsible way, ends the boutique fuel monopolies, and opens up gas exploration here at home.
