Hurricane Sandy was an unprecedented storm that had a devastating impact on New Jersey. Residents with damaged or lost property may be eligible for federal assistance. Additionally, residents of the New Jersey counties most severely impacted by Sandy will be eligible to receive Disaster Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (D-SNAP) benefits to help cover the costs of food. Meeting with Governor Christie

On November 20, 2012, Congressman Sires and other members of the New Jersey Congressional delegation met with Governor Christie to discuss response and recovery efforts for Hurricane Sandy.

Hoboken Transportation Terminal with Vice President Biden

On November 18, 2012, Congressman Sires toured the Hoboken transportation terminal with Vice President Biden, Hoboken Mayor Dawn Zimmer, Senators Lautenberg and Menendez, and New Jersey Lt. Governer Kim Guadagno. Congressman Sires spoke about rapid recovery efforts, and getting residents of the 13th District back in their homes.

Damage in Hoboken Train/PATH Station

On November 2, 2012 Congressman Sires joined Secretary of Transportation Ray LaHood and Senators Lautenberg and Menendez to assess damage in the Hoboken train/PATH station after Hurricane Sandy.
