Sessions made the following comments today on the passing of Judge Robert Bork: “Judge Bork will be greatly missed and our prayers are with his loved ones. While we mourn his loss we must also celebrate his legacy. He was a fierce defender of our constitutional heritage and the rule of law. He understood that our laws have meaning only if they are faithfully interpreted and impartially applied. He... understood that if we allowed ourselves to twist the laws based on our emotions, the result would not be a more compassionate society but a more oppressive one: if our laws are malleable, so too are our liberties. He understood that real compassion means following the Constitution. Judge Bork’s legacy will endure, and we will honor that legacy by fighting to ensure that only those who respect the words of the Constitution be placed onto our nation’s highest court.”See More

- Excerpt from Sessions' Op-Ed in the WSJ: “Washington has become possessed by the idea that a small group of negotiators, meeting in secret, can solve the deep, painful and systemic problems plaguing this country… but what have all these secret talks produced? Temporary fixes, stopgap measures and another set of emergency deadlines...
It may take dozens of votes, even scores, to reach a consensus. But the American people need to be in on the process and have the opportunity to voice their opinion on concrete proposals. Have we forgotten that it is their future that is at stake?” Jeff Sessions shared a link.
"Nothing will do more to restore respect for the Senate than for the American people to see it engaged in full, honest and passionate debate. If some of our constituents are disappointed in the results or the votes cast by their senator, at... least they can know that nothing was hidden from them, that everything was laid on the line for the future of this great Republic. They will know which senators gave their all to deal wisely and courageously with the great challenge of our time—and they can hold accountable those who did not."See MoreJeff Sessions shared a link.

"The American Energy Manufacturing Technical Corrections Act will save jobs in Alabama by giving much-needed regulatory relief to our state’s manufacturer of walk-in freezer doors. I am very pleased that, with the action today in the Senate, the bill will now go to the President’s desk to be signed into law. I think this bill is a win-win for Alabama and the nation. America’s workers must be defended."Jeff Sessions shared a link.

Excerpt from Sen. Sessions' remarks this morning:
"Insofar as I can see, a tax-and-spend policy remains [President Obama’s] goal today. The White House isn’t planning to raise taxes to reduce the deficit, but to grow the government. I don’...t believe Congress will accept such a deal if that is what is being discussed…
Shouldn’t the President of the United States, the only person who represents everybody in the country, lay out his plan, or must that remain a secret too? Will it just be revealed to us on the eve of Christmas or eve of the new calendar year? We will be asked to vote for it, to ratify it like lemmings, I suppose."See MoreJeff Sessions shared a link.
