Washington, DC – A Congressional hearing on Thursday will examine the Department of Transportation (DOT) Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration’s (FMCSA) new motor carrier safety enforcement and compliance program and issues related to its implementation.

The Subcommittee on Highways and Transit hearing, chaired by U.S. Rep. John J. Duncan, Jr. (R-TN), will focus on FMCSA’s Compliance, Safety, Accountability (CSA) program, which is intended to intervene with unsafe carriers in order to prevent future crashes. However, since CSA was implemented in December 2010, some studies and stakeholders have raised questions about the effectiveness of the program.

Thursday’s hearing will review the CSA program and to help determine whether it is an appropriate measure of safety and is achieving its goals. More information can be found here.
