Washington, Sep 24 -

Washington, D.C. — Iowa Congressman Tom Latham has been named a Guardian of Small Business by the National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB) for his “outstanding voting record on behalf of America’s small business owners in the 112th Congress.” The NFIB is the nation’s leading small business association and is active in the small business community throughout the country, including Des Moines.

“Through my time as the owner of a small business family seed company in Iowa, I know what it takes to make a payroll and grow a business, and I also know firsthand how Washington’s policies can affect the business climate back home,” Congressman Latham said. “My top priority in Congress is to keep up the fight for pro-growth policies that promote job creation and small business success. The NFIB shares this goal, and I am honored to receive its Guardian award.”

“In the 112th Congress, Representative Tom Latham proved that he is a champion of small business,” NFIB President and CEO Dan Danner added. “The Guardian of Small Business Award is a legislative award given to U.S. Representatives and Senators who vote to promote and protect the right of small business owners to own, operate and grow their businesses.”

Legislators who voted favorably on key small business issues at least 70 percent of the time during the 112th Congress were eligible to receive Guardian of Small Business Awards.
