Joins NRA in supporting Contempt of Congress Vote

WASHINGTON, D.C. - Montana's Congressman, Denny Rehberg, today released the following statement as the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee voted to hold Attorney General Eric Holder in contempt of Congress.  Last year, in the wake of revelations about the Fast and Furious program in which the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms and Explosives put guns into the hands of Mexican cartels, Rehberg called on Eric Holder to resign.  Now, President Obama is trying to exert Executive Privilege to prevent important Fast and Furious documents from being reviewed.  Rehberg is joined by gun-rights groups, including the National Rifle Association, in praising the contempt vote.

“Unfortunately, during his first two years, President Obama got used to his Senate allies simply rubber stamping anything he wanted and he seems to have forgotten that he’s not above the law and the Constitution gives Congress the responsibility of oversight.  Attorney General Holder has stonewalled the American people for long enough.  It’s time for answers.”
