The State Board of Education (SBOE) today approved the creation of nine new open-enrollment charter schools and approved a $1.6 billion payout from the Permanent School Fund for the 2014-2015 fiscal years.

The State Board of Education (SBOE) announced today that 15 Texans who have provided thousands of hours of volunteer service to Texas public schools will be honored with the Heroes for Children award at the SBOE meeting on Nov. 16 in Room 1-104 of the William B. Travis Building, 1701 N. Congress Ave., in Austin. The Heroes ceremony is scheduled to begin at 11 a.m.

Commissioner of Education Michael L. Williams today announced the expansion of student resources through Project Share, the Texas Education Agency’s on-line learning community, throughout the 2012-13 fall semester. Updated OnTRACK Lessons for secondary English, math, science, and social studies subjects are available at no cost to local school districts.
