ATRIUM ART GALLERY TO HOST LEO VROMAN'S 'CONNECTIONS' ART SHOW
The UNT Health Science Center’s Atrium Gallery will feature works by Leo Vroman Oct. 31 through Nov. 30 in an exhibit called “Connections: Art, Poetry, Science and Religion.”Vroman’s works will include carvings that he made while he was a prisoner of war during World War II, ballpoint pen drawings made during his subway commute in New York after his arrival in the United States, some of his latest computer-generated art work, psalms, and several of his 50 books, most of which are poetry.
Vroman is best known in Holland as a poet and probably best known in the United States as a research scientist in blood and material interactions. Many of his discoveries as a scientist can be found in his illustrations, including the Vroman Effect, which has motivated and influenced scientists studying blood and material interactions ever since its inception.
A reception for Vroman will take place Saturday, Nov. 5, from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. in the Education and Administration Building Atrium Gallery on the health science center campus.
