Health Science Center and Area Universities Sponsor Health Policy Seminars

JeffTalbert.jpg Three North Texas public universities, including UNT Health Science Center will begin sponsoring monthly seminars about health policy research projects and related issues that will rotate among the three campuses.

The first North Texas Seminar on Health Policy Research will take place at the University of Texas at Dallas at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 23, in Green Hall, Room 3.606. Jeffrey Talbert, PhD, associate professor and chair of the Department of Health Policy and Management at the health science center’s School of Public Health, will give a presentation titled, “Should State Medicaid Programs Prior-Authorize Atypical Antipsychotics?”

The seminars will focus on health policy research projects and related issues and are intended for faculty, doctoral students, research professionals and policy practitioners from universities, medical centers and other institutions engaged in health policy research in the North Texas region. Interested members of the public may also attend free of charge.

Sponsors of the monthly seminars are the health science center’s School of Public Health, UTD’s School of Social Sciences and the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center at Dallas, Department of Family and Community Medicine, Division of Community Medicine.

The seminars will take place on the last Thursday of each month through May, then resume in September 2006.
