UNT HEALTH SCIENCE CENTER OFFERS FREE DEPRESSION SCREENING

FORT WORTH, Texas – The University of North Texas Health Science Center at Fort Worth is offering free depression screenings in recognition of National Depression Screening Day, Wednesday, Oct. 4. The screenings are free of charge for persons 18 years and older. No appointment is necessary.

Dr. Karen Rainville, assistant professor of psychiatry at the health science center, is conducting the free screenings at the health science center’s psychiatry building located at 3430 Camp Bowie Boulevard from 2-4:30 p.m.

"Millions of Americans suffer from depression and most of them can be treated successfully," said Dr. Rainville. "However, the majority of depressed persons do not receive the treatment because their symptoms are not recognized, are blamed on personal weakness or are misdiagnosed and incorrectly treated."
