FORT WORTH, Texas – The University of North Texas Health Science Center (UNTHSC) and The University of Texas at Arlington (UTA) have become partners in a seven-year B.S./D.O. dual-degree program.

The UNTHSC and UTA affiliation agreement establishes a joint undergraduate/professional program of education leading to a Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree for eligible UTA students in seven years.

Students who successfully complete UTA’s undergraduate course requirements and meet admission requirements at UNTHSC may be admitted to the four-year program to complete their education in medicine. This "3+4" program allows eligible UTA students to enter UNTHSC after three years and receive their undergraduate degrees after successfully completing their first year of medical school.

New UNTHSC President Dr. Ronald R. Blanck and UTA President Robert Witt will sign the affiliation agreement at 3:00 p.m., Friday, August 18. The ceremony will be held in the sixth floor Parlor in the Central Library on the UTA campus.

In announcing the agreement, UNTHSC President Dr. Blanck said, "With UTA’s place as the premier state university in Tarrant County and our role as the only osteopathic medical school in the state, this agreement should help more local students become physicians."

A 105-year-old, comprehensive research, teaching and public service institution, UTA is the second largest component of the world renowned University of Texas System and the sixth largest university in Texas.
