FORT WORTH, Texas – Mark A. Baker, D.O., a Fort Worth radiologist, has been named the 2001-02 president of the Texas Osteopathic Medical Association (TOMA).

A 1976 graduate of the University of North Texas Health Science Center’s Texas College of Osteopathic Medicine (TCOM), Dr. Baker will lead the medical association and its 1,800 members for a one-year term.

"We are proud to have another of TCOM’s graduates serve in this important role," said Ronald Blanck, D.O., president of the UNT Health Science Center. "Dr. Baker is the third TCOM graduate to be elected president of TOMA, and he will provide steady and firm leadership as TOMA continues to build on its foundation."

A long-time leader with the state association, Dr. Baker has been elected to three terms as a district president and served as speaker of its house of delegates from 1993 to 2000. He now holds the post of speaker of the American Osteopathic Association’s house of delegates.

Certified in diagnostic radiology by the American Osteopathic Board of Radiology, Dr. Baker is a radiologist with Westside Radiology Consultants. He is on staff at the Osteopathic Medical Center of Texas and Graham Regional Medical Center. He serves as a clinical associate professor and acting chair for the department of radiology at the UNT Health Science Center.

Dr. Baker served as president of the TCOM Alumni Association in 1981, and in 1994, he was named TCOM’s Distinguished Alumnus of the Year.

TOMA’s 102nd Convention and Scientific Seminar was held in Arlington June 6-10.
