Campus operations are back to normal Feb. 7

(Editor's Note: UNT will resume normal operations, including classes and offices, on Monday, Feb. 7.)

Feb. 4, 2011

Dear UNT community,

RAwlinsUNT will continue to be closed tomorrow (Saturday, Feb. 5). The significant overnight snowfall, on top of ice, means that the area’s hazardous weather-related conditions continue. Roadways are dangerous, especially the overpasses. Temperatures are expected to remain below freezing tonight.

On our campus, sidewalks and parking lots are still covered with ice and snow and will continue to be through most of tomorrow, Feb. 5. UNT is continuing to do what we can to conserve utilities until the temperature is more moderate.

I recommend that you not go to our campus unless it’s absolutely necessary. There will be no classes held on campus and offices at UNT will continue to be closed Saturday, Feb. 5, 2011.

Campus closures do not impact online courses so classes and online testing will continue as scheduled.

We will communicate with the university community this weekend about the prospects for reopening on Monday, Feb. 7.

Stay safe and warm!

Sincerely,

V. Lane Rawlins

President

Below, record snowfall closed UNT Feb. 11-12, 2010. But that snow was gone in 48 hours. This year's intractable freeze has staying power.
