DENTON — Coach Dan McCarney had already started his year-end evaluation process of UNT’s program Monday, just two days after the Mean Green completed a 4-8 season with a 25-24 loss to Western Kentucky.

McCarney will meet with each of his players and coaches in the next few days, but would not address specific changes he will make heading into his third season at UNT.

“I don’t talk about things like, ‘I am going to shift this guy,’ or, ‘This guy is coming,’ or ‘This guy is leaving,’” McCarney said. “We all know that right now there is a lot of movement in college football. I have a tremendous staff around me. I hope we can keep it intact.”

Briefly … Two players who were on UNT’s roster for at least part of last season are no longer in the Mean Green’s plans, McCarney said. Wide receiver Chaz Sampson of Mansfield Timmberview will leave the team at the semester break and will probably transfer. Linebacker Mike Stojkovic, who pleaded no contest to misdemeanor assault charges this fall and briefly rejoined the team as a walk-on, will not be back next season.
