University of North Texas regents could combine medical, academic schools

First the University of Texas’ governing board said it wants to establish a medical school at the Austin flagship.

Then the Texas A&M University System Board of Regents approved a plan to move the system’s Health Science Center, which includes a medical school, under the administration of the College Station flagship.

Now the University of North Texas System apparently wants to join the trend.

Mikulewicz completes course, passes test to gain license in state

When Sheriff’s Chief Deputy Blaise Mikulewicz addressed a recent graduating class of the sheriff’s peace officer academy, he felt a little guilty. And a little jealous.

He had 26 years experience in law enforcement and was acting as chief operating officer for the sheriff’s office, but he didn’t yet have a state peace officer’s license from the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement Officer Standards and Education.
