President Obama's re-election campaign ran "the greatest digital operation in the history of politics," Zac Moffatt, digital director for Mitt Romney, said Wednesday. "I don't begrudge them."

In contrast, Moffatt said he thinks his team struggled the most with the rapid need to "scale out" and staff up following the extended GOP primary. "Build bigger" is his advice when it comes to digital teams for future presidential campaigns.

"We ran out of runway," he said, and described his dream scenario as one where he could put together a dream team of people at least two years in advance.

"If I could do it again, I'd do it as an incumbent," he laughed.

Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D-Fla.) educated a couple of men on respecting Spanx — body-slimming foundational garments for women — Wednesday on Twitter.

Rep. Justin Amash (R-Mich.) blasted House leadership in a Facebook post Wednesday, warning that his removal from the House Budget Committee would ultimately "backfire" on GOP leaders.

"I don’t relish this situation, but if one thing is clear based on the response from the grass roots, it’s that leadership’s actions will backfire," Amash wrote in a post to his Facebook page. "If they think kicking me off of a committee will lead me to abandon my principles or stifle my bipartisan work toward a balanced budget, I have a message for them: You’re dead wrong." The Michigan lawmaker defended his voting record, saying that despite some high-level defections, including voting against the 2013 House budget resolution, he believed he had been a loyal Republican.

"I voted with the Republican Chairman more than 95 percent of the time, and I have voted with my party’s leadership more than three-quarters of the time on the House floor," Amash said.

The Capitol Christmas Tree lit up for the first time this season on Tuesday, following a lighting ceremony featuring Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) and members of the Colorado delegation.

This year’s tree is a 73-foot tree from the White River National Forest in Colorado.

Sen. Mark Udall (D-Colo.), who spoke at the event on Tuesday, tweeted a photo of the tree — which was also decorated with ornaments made by students in Colorado — all lit up.

Former presidential candidate Rick Santorum immediately jumped on Tuesday's defeat of the U.N. disabilities treaty to promote his advocacy group in favor of conservative Republicans.

The former senator from Pennsylvania failed in his primary bid against Mitt Romney last year, but has since tried to reemerge as a conservative kingmaker. He launched his “Patriot Voices” nonprofit in June to get Republicans into office and push them to the right, and joined World Net Daily as a columnist this week.

“We did it,” Santorum tweeted Tuesday. “#CRPD was defeated today. @Patriot_voices will cont to have an impact on important issues. Pls join us.”
