The House has voted 316 times this Congress to block action to address climate change, to halt efforts to reduce air and water pollution, to undermine protections for public lands and coastal areas, and to weaken the protection of the environment in other ways.  The Democratic staff of the Energy and Commerce Committee has released a report with an updated analysis of the anti-environment record of the House of Representatives in the 112th Congress and provided a searchable database of the anti-environment votes.

Today Reps. Henry A. Waxman, Ed Markey, Bobby L. Rush, Diana DeGette, and Rush D. Holt, the leading Democrats on the House Energy and Commerce Committee and the House Natural Resources Committee, sent a letter to Grand Isle Shipyard Owner Mark Tregeant to request a briefing regarding Grand Isle Shipyard’s involvement in the recent deadly explosion on a Black Elk Energy oil production platform in the Gulf of Mexico.  Reports indicate that the explosion may have involved maintenance welding work by Grand Isle Shipyard, which has a history of accidents.

Today leading Democrats on the House Energy and Commerce Committee and the House Natural Resources Committee sent a letter to Black Elk Energy CEO John Hoffman regarding the explosion on November 16, 2012, on one of the company’s oil production platforms in the Gulf of Mexico.  The letter was sent by Energy and Commerce Committee members Rep. Henry A. Waxman, Rep. Bobby L. Rush, and Rep. Diana DeGette, and by Natural Resources Committee members Rep. Ed Markey and Rep. Rush D. Holt.
