Certification Programs

The UNT Training Curriculum includes Certification Programs representing different training needs on campus.  The first of these certification programs developed are the Supervisory Skills Certification and the Manager Skills Certification.  These programs have a curriculum designed to provide a blueprint for a supervisory position.  In order to receive the certification, fill out the participation form below and send it to Human Resources. Once all the necessary trainings have been completed, the tracking form should be sent to the System Business Service Center for verification and to receive a certificate of completion.

Skill Blocks

Optimize your time in training by focusing on those areas of development that are important to you! In order to assist you in planning your professional development, Human Resources has compiled five Skill Blocks. These Skill Blocks categorize the training curriculum by topic to allow for a more focused approach to training. Human Resources recognizes that these skills are the building blocks for growth and are committed to providing employees with opportunities to reach their full potential.

Performance Management Skill Block
Sessions will focus on understanding the role and importance of coaching, evaluation, documentation, and communication necessary to successfully and effectively manage employees.

Leadership/Change Management Skill Block
Sessions will assist you in understanding the impact of change, diversity in the workplace, and provide the foundational skills necessary to engage and motivate team members.

Hiring/On-boarding Skill Block
Sessions will help you identify best practices to implement during the interviewing, hiring and onā€boarding phases and develop technical acumen when utilizing PeopleAdmin.

Working Relationships Skill Block
Sessions will address communicating effectively and confidently, handling conflict, identifying team issues and strategies to build strong and trusting working relationships.

Work/Life Management Skill Block
Sessions will focus on promoting balance between life and work and provide information to assist in planning for your future.

Registering for Classes

All employees are encouraged to participate in training and development activities. Most classes or seminars are low-cost or free, and are available on a first-registered, first-trained basis. Class size is limited according to the capacity of the rooms in which they are held.  Participants should register early in order to ensure a place. Employees wishing to attend a class or seminar should first obtain approval from their supervisor. For all sessions, a minimum of ten (10) registrants will be required to conduct the class. Sessions not meeting this minimum number of registrations will be canceled. Cancellation notices will be emailed to participants the day prior to the session.  To register for classes, click the Online Registration Form below.

New Procedures:  When you click on the Online Registration Form , you will be directed to my.unt.edu.  To register for a training, log in and click on the Human Resources tab.  From there, click on ESS, then on Request Training Enrollment.  Search by Course Name, Course Number or Date to find the desired course and follow the prompts.

Parking

All employees attending training must park in parking spaces in accordance with their parking permits. While UNT staff, faculty and students are not eligible for visitor permits, visitor permits are allowed in any area designated on the visitor pass issued from the Parking Office, the Gateway Information Booth on North Texas Boulevard or the Information Booth on Avenue C. Parking permits are required for all parking spaces except metered spaces and the Parking Garage, where appropriate fees are paid. After hours, visitor passes may be obtained at the Sullivant Public Safety Center on Wilshire Street. Visitors are limited to two free permits per school year. Subsequent permits are sold in the Parking Office in the Sullivant Public Safety Center for $4.00 per day.
