FOR HER for Habitat for Humanity

On Oct. 6, a group of UNT Health employees from Obstetrics and Gynecology donned pink T-shirts and work gloves to volunteer for Habitat for Humanity’s Women Build program. The nurse practitioners, midwives and their family and friends spent the rainy Saturday helping build a new affordable home for a Fort Worth resident. And, they got a lot done. They raised the roof rafters, installed the attic floor, wrapped the entire home with fire-retardant materials, nailed braces for cabinets and a water heater, and prepared the exterior walls for the siding.

Each of the UNT Health volunteers wore a pink FOR HER T-shirt to promote the Health Science Center’s collaborative health model for women. Women Build is an annual program that encourages women and girls to make a difference by building homes and communities.

HSC raises breast cancer awareness at "Pink Out" game

Pink Out volunteers

Our volunteers represented UNT Health and the Health Science Center on Frog Alley at TCU's "Pink Out" game for breast cancer awareness on Nov. 3 at Amon G. Carter Stadium. Our volunteers set up a table and tent and handed out about 5,000 tubes of UNT Health lip balm and hundreds of special UNT Health breast cancer awareness "weepuls." Our folks were even featured in live interviews on 103.3 FM ESPN radio before the game.
