FOR HER is a collaborative health model for women of all ages. Originating at the University of North Texas Health Science Center at Fort Worth, it encompasses the Texas College of Osteopathic Medicine, the School of Public Health, Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences and UNT Health. This model meets the health care needs of women across the spectrum of ages and cultures. The services are provided by a multidisciplinary team of professionals and include research, education, patient care, and community engagement.

FOR HER (Focused On Resources for her Heath, Education and Research) in conjunction with Research Administration is pleased to announce the recipients of this year’s FOR HER intramural grant awards. The purpose of this intramural grant competition is to foster collaborative research projects with potential for external research funding in the area of women’s health. Two $50,000 awards were made to recipients’ laboratories.
Grants awarded were “Inverse Association Between Alzheimer’s Disease and Cancer: a Mitochondrial Estrogen Receptor beta Paradigm?” to the Shao-Hua Yang laboratory and, ” HPV Vaccine Among Primary Care Givers of High Risk Youths” to the Kathryn Cardarelli laboratory.
