On our current path of becoming a National Research University (NRU), it is vital for UNT to become increasingly engaged with our fellow academic community on a global level. To achieve international impact and build a worldwide brand, UNT is expanding its operations and developing educational opportunities throughout the world. Enabling faculty and students to become globally minded through increased interaction with the world at large, allows UNT to produce today and tomorrow’s globally competent leaders.

What are International Initiatives?

International initiatives consist of any and all of UNT’s endeavors outside our borders. While our recruitment of international students and our study abroad programs are UNT-I’s most well-known programs, the International Initiatives division seeks to recognize, connect, increase, and support the other ways in which UNT is able to internationalize our institution and gain global recognition.

Examples include:

• Institutional partnerships abroad

• Faculty activities/research abroad

• Courses at UNT with international themes

• Conferences sponsored by UNT with international themes

• Special collaborations abroad, such as joint degrees and satellite operations

• Speakers and events with an international element

• Delegations travelling abroad

• International fellowship, grant, and scholarship recipients

• Library resources on international themes
