Engineering technology celebrates 20 years as a founding department

The department began in 1919, when technology-related courses were offered in the Department of Manual Arts. Engineering technology joined the College of Engineering in 2003 as one of its three founding departments. A reception will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Sept. 20 at Discovery Park.

Net-Centric Software and Systems Center earns regional technology kudos

The Net-Centric Software and Systems Center received a 2012 Tech Titan of the Future award from the Metroplex Technology Business Council. The award recognizes higher education institutions in the Dallas-Fort Worth region who support students in engineering and technology. Krishna Kavi, professor of computer science and engineering is director.

Engineering adds second National Academy of Engineering member to faculty

Jim Williams, a world-renowned researcher and professor, has joined the Department of Materials Science and Engineering. He was previously dean at Ohio State University and Carnegie Mellon University, and has worked with Boeing, Rockwell and GE.

Materials scientist named distinguished lecturer by Canadian institute

Sergei Shipilov, research professor in the Department of Materials Science and Engineering, was recognized for contributions and achievements in the field of corrosion research. He is a member of the Multi-scale Surface Science and Engineering research cluster.

Jessica Rimsza is working with Jincheng Du, associate professor of materials science and engineering. Rimsza is the second student from the College of Engineering and the eighth UNT student to win the award.
