Aerial photoThe UNT Health Science Center continues to make headlines in both local and national publications.

Coca-Cola announced grants to several institutions including the UNT Health Science Center's Susan Franks, PhD, associate professor of Family Medicine.  The story was picked up by a number of national outlets, including Forbes and MarketWatch.

The Star-Telegram mentioned that the UNTHSC will be involved in determining the toxicity of drilling in North Texas and mentioned the Health Science Center's involvement with the Texas Academy of BioMedical Sciences along with the Fort Worth ISD and UNT. 

A recent Dallas Morning News article quoting Linda Cunningham, MD, associate professor, and student Kacy Dotterer (TCOM '12) was picked up by more than 10 media outlets including the Seattle Times and Washington Post

The reopening of a 35-year-old Galveston-area cold case put the Center for Human Identification in the Dallas Morning News. 

Three of the Health Science Center's Tech Fort Worth clients were listed in a dBusiness News article for receiving more than $900,000 in Qualifying Therapeutic Discovery Project grants from the Internal Revenue Service.

The Fort Worth Business Press recognized Gil Scarnati (DO '90) for receiving the first Dean's Award for Humanitarian Service presented by TCOM.

Dennis Thombs, PhD, MA, chair of Social and Behavioral Sciences, was quoted in the Chronicle for Higher Education's article about the potential risks of alcoholic energy drinks.
