COOKE NAMED ASSISTANT PROFESSOR AT UNT HEALTH SCIENCE CENTER

PatrickCooke.jpg Patrick Cooke, PhD, was recently named assistant professor of cell biology and genetics and director of the Affymetrix Microarray Core Laboratory at UNT Health Science Center.

Dr. Cooke was previously a field scientist for Affymetrix Inc. specializing in high throughput automation for genetic expression profiling and sequencing. Dr. Cooke is also chief executive officer of Sciomics, LLC, a forensic consulting firm and laboratory, and is on the editorial board of Forensic Magazine.

Dr. Cooke’s research interests include the use of single nucleotide polymorphisms and robotics in forensic analysis and bioinformatics.

A native of Iowa Park, Texas, Dr. Cooke earned a bachelor of science degree and a master of science degree in biology and a doctorate in microbiology from the University of North Texas.

Dr. Cooke and his wife, Kris, currently reside in the Eagle Mountain Lake area.
