RHODES CHOSEN TO JUDGE IN 2005 HEALTH AWARD COMPETITION

Cathy Rhodes, MLIS, instructional services librarian at the University of North Texas Health Science Center, was appointed as one of three judges for the Texas entries of the 2006 Health Award competition of the National Commission on Libraries and Information Science.

Created by the National Commission on Libraries and Information Science, the Health Award for Libraries is the first to honor libraries with exemplary consumer health information programs. The Chief Officers of State Library Agencies, or COSLA, have set up panels of judges in each state to determine the candidates that will go on to be judged by a panel of national judges. The winner will be announced in May 2006 and will receive $20,000.

Rhodes earned a master's degree in library science from the University of Texas at Austin and a bachelor of arts degree in biology and library science from Baylor University. She currently resides in Fort Worth.
