LEHRER, MARONEY AND SMITH WIN SCHOLASTIC AWARDS FOR ACADEMIC EXCELLENCE AT THE TEXAS COLLEGE OF OSTEOPATHIC MEDICINE SENIOR AWARDS RECEPTION
The following students were the recipients of the three Scholastic Awards for Academic Excellence at the Texas College of Osteopathic Medicine’s senior awards reception:
· Sam Maroney, DO - Scholastic Award for Academic Excellence, first place (plaque and $1,000)
· Jason Smith, DO - Scholastic Award for Academic Excellence, second place (plaque and $750)
· Ira Lehrer, DO - Scholastic Award for Academic Excellence, third place (plaque and $500)
The Scholastic Award for Academic Excellence is given annually to the top students from the graduating class based on grade point average and class rank.
Dr. Maroney, a native of San Marcos, earned a bachelor of business administration degree in marketing from Abilene Christian University. He will complete a rotating internship at Plaza Medical Center in Fort Worth.
Dr. Smith, a native of Houston, earned a bachelor of science degree in criminal justice from Texas Christian University. He will complete his residency in emergency medicine at Brooke Army Medical Center in San Antonio.
Dr. Lehrer, a native of Houston, earned a bachelor of science degree in biomedical science from Texas A&M University. He will complete his residency in anesthesiology at John Hopkins University in Baltimore, Md.
All of the scholastic award recipients received doctor of osteopathic medicine degrees from TCOM.
The senior awards reception was held May 19 at the Fort Worth Club.
