UNT HEALTH SCIENCE CENTER FACULTY NAMED TO AMERICAN COLLEGE OF EPIDEMIOLOGY COMMITTEE

FORT WORTH, Texas – Gregg Wilkinson, PhD, of the University of North Texas Health Science Center, was named to the Ethics and Standards of Practice Committee of the American College of Epidemiology (ACE).

Wilkinson is professor and chair of the department of epidemiology and biostatistics in the health science center’s School of Public Health. He also serves as the director of the Center for Occupational and Environmental Research and Training. Wilkinson’s research interests include chronic disease, radiation, and occupational & environmental epidemiology.

Prior to coming to the health science center, Wilkinson was a professor at the School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences at the State University of New York at Buffalo. He has served as a consultant in epidemiology with several organizations, including the National Science Foundation and National Cancer Institute.

Wilkinson earned his undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral degrees from the State University of New York at Buffalo and pursued his postdoctoral research at Duke University Medical Center. He is a member of several professional societies, among them the Society for Epidemiologic Research, American Public Health Association, and International Society for Environmental Epidemiology. In 1998, he was elected a fellow in ACE.

The American College of Epidemiology is a professional organization dedicated to the continuing education and advocacy for epidemiologists in their efforts to promote public health. The Ethics and Standards of Practice committee addresses issues of ethics and standard of practice important to the profession. The committee consists of five or more fellows or members appointed by the president of ACE for five-year terms.
