UNT HEALTH SCIENCE CENTER CELEBRATES BLACK HISTORY MONTH

FORT WORTH - Texas – The following UNT Health Science Center-sponsored events are open to the public in celebration of Black History Month:

Feb. 9 – "Health History and the Family of Man"
Richard Owen Proctor, M.D., Brigadier General of the U.S. Army (retired)
11:00 – 11:50 a.m., Luibel Hall, UNT Health Science Center
Dr. Proctor was the regional medical director of Region 6 for the Texas Department of Health. He currently teaches African-American Studies at Texas A&M University.

Feb. 9 – Burl Washington Art Exhibit
1:00 – 2:00 p.m., Rare Books Room, Medical Education Building 3, Room 310, UNT Health Science Center
Mr. Washington is a nationally known Black artist. He is noted for his series of paintings on the Buffalo Soldiers.

Feb. 17 – Black History Session
12:00 – 2:00 p.m., Everett Hall, Medical Education Building 2, Room 106, UNT Health Science Center
The session will cover famous Black scientists since the beginning of slavery until the present.
