CONTINUING MEDICAL EDUCATION PROGRAM OFFERED FOR PHYSICIANS AND NURSES

FORT WORTH, Texas -- A continuing medical education (CME) program for physicians, nurses and healthcare practitioners on "Hypertension, Diabetes and Lipids" will take place June 9 from 5 - 9 p.m. at the Fort Worth Botanic Gardens on University Drive. The CME program is sponsored by the University of North Texas Health Science Center's CME office.

Program presenters include Dr. Michael B.Clearfield, Dr. Craig W. Spellman, and Dr. Frederick R. Schaller, all faculty physicians at the UNT Health Science Center. Three hours of CME credit will be granted to physicians and healthcare practitioners, and 3.8 contact hours will be granted to nurses. Admission is free due to an educational grant from the Parke-Davis pharmaceutical company.

The health science center's Continuing Medical Education Office achieved Approved Provider status from the Texas Nurses Association earlier this year, allowing the health science center to offer accredited educational programs for nurses. The office serves some 7,000 physicians and healthcare practitioners each year and is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) and the American Osteopathic Association to conduct continuing medical education programs for physicians.
