Time & Labor - News and Reminders

Fiscal Year Reminders- It is imperative that all time for August is entered as quickly as possible. The deadline for all Fiscal Year 2012 and time is September 14th at noon.

Why is this important?

  • Vacation time has a maximum carry over balance into the new fiscal year based on the number of Months of Service. Balances over the maximum will be lapsed, or converted, to Sick leave. If time taken by the employee is not entered, the balance will be inflated and when the Lapsing process happens on the night of the deadline, the employee may lose unnecessary vacation time.

Floating Holiday- All employees that worked in the 2012 Fiscal Year received a holiday based on their FTE. After 8/31, any unused balances will be lost.

New Accrual Date- In an effort to streamline processes across campuses, we have elected to share a common accrual date. All accruals will be added on the 14th. This is new for System, Denton, and Dallas.

How will this help?

  • Since the accrual date is after the T&L entry deadline, this will cut down on the usage of future accruals for a previous month’s time.

Additional Accrual Date- To improve efficiency, we have added a second accrual date for all campuses on the last day of the month.

How will this help?

  • This will catch new hires and will ensure they receive their first month’s accruals without manual entry.

Record Time in the Tenths- This is a reminder to continue to record time in the tenths, not hundredths place (for example: 7.5 instead of 7.45)

What will this effect?

  • EIS is programmed to calculate all time in the tenths. If time is entered in the hundredths, EIS will process the time in a rounded amount which will affect the balances.
