Federal Emergency Management Agency

FEMA and UNT share a close relationship. FEMA was instrumental in helping UNT establish an emergency management academic program in the early 80’s — the very first one in the nation. Professionals share expertise with students and faculty through lectures, workshops and mentorship for emergency management careers.

The Grainger Foundation

Grainger is a natural leader in disaster preparedness and response and has been part of the Texas business community for more than 75 years, with a mix of product and distribution capabilities in operation throughout the Dallas-Ft. Worth Metroplex. Emergency preparedness and technical education have long been the two main philanthropic areas of focus for Grainger. The company makes a significant impact by using its resources and expertise to deepen and inspire relationships with communities, customers and public partners. Partnering with the American Red Cross, Grainger is the National Founding Sponsor of the Ready When the Time Comes program, which engages corporations in providing trained disaster relief volunteers who are ready to respond quickly in the wake of a local or national disaster.

NC4 Situational Readiness

NC4 revolutionizes how government and businesses collect, manage, share and disseminate information to mitigate risks, manage incidents, and securely communicate and collaborate with one another. NC4 solutions provide organizations with a common operating picture to support continuity of operations.

Emergency Operations Center Lab

This state-of-the-art, hands-on learning lab serves as a nerve center for all communications following a disaster, such as the tornados that struck Oklahoma Feb. 10. It also allows students and community organizations to simulate and practice responding to high-stress emergencies and large-scale disasters.

Center for Logistics Education and Research

The Center establishes partnerships between businesses and academic communities to advance the study and practice of logistics and supply chain management in Texas, nationally and globally.

Center for Economic Development and Research

The Center conducts funded applied economic research on issues of economic and community development, economic and fiscal impact analysis, urban planning, transportation systems analysis, and strategic planning. These skill areas have been applied to multiple projects looking at the impacts of disaster events and the impacts of disaster mitigation strategies on local and regional economies.
