Biomedical Sciences Research and Educational Laboratory (BSREL) - The BSREL, also known as the BioSkills Lab, is a unique, state of the art educational facility used to promote biomedical research and anatomy education at UNTHSC. It can be reserved for clinical training/workshops to learn both basic and complex surgical techniques and anatomy outreach programs such as teacher workshops, science camps, field trips and anatomy video conferences.

Brain Bank - Although animal studies of dementing illnesses are available there are limitations to all. In the simplest of terms, a mouse is not a human. Thus, to determine the features of human dementia, the study of human brains is of great importance. Comparing human brain tissue donated by patients with dementia to those of non-demented individuals is the only way that the molecular basis of these devastating illness can be understood. Thus, the purpose of the UNTHSC Brain Bank is to collect brain tissue for the study of neurodegenerative disorders, including HIV-1-associated dementia, Alzheimer’s disease and the natural aging process.

Center for Commercialization of Fluorescence Technology (CCFT) - Our mission is to provide the expertise on fluorescence spectroscopy and microscopy, and to promote fluorescence technologies. The CCFT includes three spectroscopic laboratories, protein chemistry laboratory, peptide and organic chemistry laboratory, muscle research facility, surface preparation and chemistry preparation rooms, with a total area 3,200 sq. ft., plus 650 sq. ft. of faculty offices.

Microscopy Core Facility (MCF) - The Department of Cell Biology and Anatomy is fortunate to have an outstanding staff and facility to provide a wide range of histological and microscopic services to the campus. Please visit their website to see what services are available and to reserve resources.

North Texas Eye Research Institute (NTERI) - NTERI is providing a healthier future for those who have or will develop debilitating vision disorders. We are changing the world with new discoveries through basic and clinical eye research. Increased awareness about disease development, outcome, and the need for novel therapies for age-related macular degeneration, glaucoma, diabetic retinopathy, optic neuritis, dry eye disease, and related health disparities among ethnic and minority populations drives our research programs at the North Texas Eye Research Institute. We have active research programs in many of these areas.

Willed Body Program - Provides a way for donors and their loved ones to make a gift that will help educate and train future doctors as well as provide the lasting legacy of experience.
