The Emerald Eagle Scholars program is founded on three philosophical pillars – financial support, academic success and campus connection. It is available to incoming, fully admitted freshmen from Texas households with an annual income of $40,000 or less.

The need-based financial aid program is funded by donations and a combination of federal, state and institutional funds, including proceeds from the annual Emerald Ball. The program has been enormously successful, welcoming more than 1,200 scholars so far and enjoying a freshman retention rate of more than 80 percent.
