The 2011 Emerald Ball goes Gatsby will begin at 6 p.m. Feb. 19 at the Belo Mansion, Dallas. The proceeds from the Emerald Ball will increase the Emerald Eagle Scholars endowment fund. The scholarship makes it possible for talented and committed Texas high school students who need financial assistance to attend college.
Emerald Ball 2011:
Ball details
The Emerald Eagle Scholars program is founded on three philosophical pillars – financial support, academic success and campus connection. It is available to incoming, fully admitted freshmen from Texas households with an annual income of $40,000 or less.
The need-based financial aid program is funded by donations and a combination of federal, state and institutional funds, including proceeds from the annual Emerald Ball. The program has been enormously successful, welcoming more than 1,200 scholars so far and enjoying a freshman retention rate of more than 80 percent.
