Audit will determine dependents’ eligibility for state program

ERS is working with Aon Hewitt, an independent company, to conduct an audit to make sure dependents covered in the Texas Employees Group Benefits Program are eligible for coverage. Here is information about the audit.

The Texas Employees Group Benefits Program (GBP) is ERS’ insurance program. ERS administers benefits for employees and retirees of state agencies, higher education institutions and other groups.

ERS is conducting the audit to help contain health care costs in the Texas Employees Group Benefits Program.

It is wise and responsible to review the eligibility of the dependents covered under the program. Covering ineligible dependents raises costs for the program and everyone enrolled. The Texas Legislature (not UNT or UNT System) decides who is eligible for the Texas Employees Group Benefits Program. ERS follows the laws to enroll and audit dependents.

ERS is working with Aon Hewitt, an independent company, to conduct an audit to make sure dependents covered in the Texas Employees Group Benefits Program are eligible for coverage. The audit will ask you to send copies of documents to prove that the dependents you cover in health insurance are eligible. Your dependents will lose their health, dental, and life insurance if you don't verify your dependents' eligibility. In addition, you may have to repay the cost of paid claims.

  • Dependents who are not verified as eligible will lose health, dental and life insurance.

If you have questions or need help, call Aon Hewitt's Dependent Verification Center toll-free at 800-987-6605 Monday-Friday from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. CDT and Saturday 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. CDT.

You can also send questions to Aon Hewitt on the Dependent Audit website with your audit login and password. You will need your audit login name and password to access the secure site. Website login information is in your verification request letter

You can also visit the secure dependent audit website that allows you to:

  • View letters and emails sent from Aon Hewitt.
