North Texas in D.C. Program

Purpose of the NTDC Program

NTDC Students

This scholarship program was established to provide University of North Texas students an opportunity to participate first-hand in the American political process and learn how various Washington DC entities formulate public policy and how other governmental agencies interact with that process. The program’s objective is to provide students with insights into public life and the policy-making process by working in governmental, nonprofit and private sector internship placements in our nation’s capital. Furthermore, the internship offers students real world experiences where they can apply classroom learning. During the internship, students will refine their career interests, develop leadership and professional skills and gain a deeper understanding of American politics.

The NTDC scholarship is currently available to all interns that are accepted into the program. All housing costs are paid for by the NTDC program at a housing site that is determined by the program. Additionally, those students participating in full-semester internships in the fall and spring semesters and the 6-week summer internships are awarded a small stipend that contributes toward living expenses.
