Osteopathic Match results released

stethescopeNational Matching Services, Inc., which coordinates the Osteopathic Match, announced that 74 percent of osteopathic students and graduates who participated this year successfully matched into osteopathic residency or internship positions.  

Of the 2,212 individuals who participated in the American Osteopathic Association (AOA) Intern/Resident Registration Program, 1,640 students and recent graduates successfully matched. Last year, there were 1,473 successful matches.  

Primary care specialties of family practice saw a 15 percent increase and internal medicine saw a 28 percent increase. Family practice was the largest matched specialty with 373 positions filled.

Texas College of Osteopathic Medicine at the UNT Health Science Center had 46 participants in this year's Osteopathic Match. Of these participants, 35 were matched, including three who will serve in the military.
