UNT HEALTH SCIENCE CENTER HOSTS START HEALTHY MAGAZINE LAUNCH PARTY SEPT. 15

atrium.jpg On Thursday, Sept. 15, START Healthy magazine will unveil its first issue at a kickoff party at UNT Health Science Center’s Atrium.

The party will be from 6 to 9 p.m. in the Education and Administration Building, located at 3500 Camp Bowie Boulevard.

This free publication will focus on proper nutrition, fitness and stress reduction. The magazine will feature articles on parenting, Hispanics, seniors and teens, and it offers a children’ section for ages 6-10. In addition to expert editorial on healthy lifestyles and behaviors, START Healthy will offer an events calendar (walks, runs, health fairs, etc).

“We are committed to providing accessible resources to reduce the prevalence of obesity and related diseases in North Texas,” said Sonya Griffith, publisher.

“What’s going to be different about our publication is that it is local, and it will remain local,” said Leslie Casey, publisher. “It’s not a new diet fad that’s happening in New York City. It’s happening here.”

The free magazine will be distributed to employers throughout North Texas, including Motorola, UICI, Radio Shack, Alcon, UNT Health Science Center, various municipalities, YMCA facilities, and Fort Worth and Arlington school districts.

The launch party at the health science center will include representatives from the community, the magazine and the magazine’s advisory board.
