MD degree study group named
As announced last week, the UNT System Chancellor, UNT System Board of Regents and the UNTHSC President will sponsor a study that will be led by a Study Group to complete a comprehensive evaluation and consider all major issues related to the possibility of adding a parallel MD degree option in addition to continuing and improving the DO degree program of the Texas College of Osteopathic Medicine.
These findings, to be presented to the UNT System Board of Regents in May for consideration, will represent various internal and external perspectives. The Regents will not make any recommendations until August 2009.
While the Study Group will develop, oversee and approve the final document to be presented to the Board, they will work closely with a core group of UNTHSC administrators, faculty and staff who will assist them in the compiling of documentation and the actual writing of the report.

School of Health Professions sign installed
Now, anyone who passes by the corner of Montgomery and Camp Bowie will know about our new School of Health Professions (SHP). Crews installed the new SHP sign on the south side of the EAD building over the weekend. The school is the new home of our Department of Physician Assistant Studies and the new Department of Physical Therapy, which will soon offer Doctor of Phsysical Therapy degrees. Clayton Homes, EdD, PT, chair of Physical Therapy; Warren Anderson, EdD, dean of SHP; and Henry Lemke, PA-C, chair of Physician Assistant Studies, were so excited about the new sign, they braved 30-degree weather for a photo.
