UNT students hold vigil for plane crash victims

DENTON - A sorority at the University of North Texas held a candlelight vigil Sunday night for the victims in a plane crash that killed four members of a Southlake family. The victims included brothers Paul and Mason Ledet, both students in the Carroll Independent School District, and their father Leonard Ledet and uncle Greg Ledet. The Ledet men were headed to an A&M game when their plane went down Saturday.

Relatives, friends and church members gathered Monday at the Onita home in Missouri City to mourn the loss of two ambitious sisters from the Houston area who perished in a Sunday plane crash in Nigeria that killed all 153 passengers.

Former banker at UNT branch remembered as mentor, kind boss

Zach Tucker will be remembered for caring about and mentoring many University of North Texas students during his time as the branch manager of Wells Fargo in the University Union.

Tucker died of a heart attack Monday at age 57.

He was recuperating from pneumonia, said Carrell Ann Simmons, who worked with him at Wells Fargo on the Square, when it was First State Bank of Texas.

Tucker worked at the University Union until a few years ago when he began working for Point Bank on South Interstate 35E.

“He was one of the most caring and generous persons I’ve known,” Simmons said.

DENTON (CBSDFW.COM) � The UNT community is mourning the tragic loss of a promising communications student. Twenty-three year old Dustin ODell died last Friday after being hit by a Denton County Transportation Authority train. Investigators say he was walking along a secluded section of tracks when the accident happened. , 48, passed away suddenly in his home in Austin, Texas on Sunday, October 9, 2011 of a heart attack.after a 5 year battle with brain cancer. Greg was born January 30, 1963, lived in Lorain, and graduated from Marion L. Steele High School with the Class of 1981.
