Diana Adams Elrod

Diana Adams Elrod, PhD.
Director

Dr. Elrod has 18 years experience working with this and other TRIO programs (UB, UBMS, and as a McNair Mentor). She holds a Ph.D. in Biology, has numerous publications, and is actively involved in many professional organizations.  Diana is in the first generation in her family to hold a college degree and is the first in her immediate and extended family to have a doctoral degree. Her advising skills were developed through previous employment working with both underrepresented and low income individuals as a pregnancy risk counselor. For the past 23 years, she has also held university lecturer positions for numerous courses and is active in the university community.

Diana is married to Doug Elrod, Ph.D. and is the mother of UNT graduate, Alex and mother-in-law to UNT graduate, Jessica. The household is rounded out with the fuzzy ones – Ellie and Gracie. In her spare time, Diana loves to travel and dote on her nephew, Dallas.

Rebekah Samaniego

Rebekah Samaniego
Technical Editor

The current McNair technical editor has five years of combined experience with TRIO programs (McNair and UB). Rebekah is a McNair alumna and is the first person in her family to hold a college degree. She has a B.A. in Political Science and a B.A. in English and has presented her research at national political and social science conferences. She is currently in a Ph.D. program in political science focusing on American judicial politics and Constitutional law.

Rosa Fonseca

Rosa Fonseca
Scholar Adviser

The current scholar adviser is a former participant in both the McNair Scholar Program and Student Support Services. The first in her family to attend college, Rosa has a B.A. in Political Science from UNT and is currently in the Political Science master’s program, where she is studying international relations and comparative politics.
