The mission of the Department of Behavioral and Community Health is to train scholars and practitioners to address the major bio-behavioral and social determinants of health. Our faculty emphasize the multi-level study of the biological, behavioral, family, social, economic factors that promote healthy lifestyles and prevent risk behavior, injury, and disease in communities. Our graduates are prepared to effectively engage communities as partners to strengthen their capacity to change social conditions that undermine public health and maintain health disparities. We also plan, implement, and evaluate community-based interventions, and conduct research on community and behavior change strategies. Graduates assume positions in public health departments, health and human service agencies, research settings, and in academia.

For admissions information, please contact Ms. Liz Medders or call 1-877-868-7741.
