Welcome

The University of North Texas Art Galleries support the educational mission of the university, enrich the aesthetic environment of the community and serve as a cultural resource for the public at large. Through a focus on curatorial, student, and faculty projects involving vanguard contemporary art, the galleries challenge and promote the current discourse surrounding living artists and their works.

FOR STUDENTS

Student Exhibitions

CVAD student exhibitions change weekly in one of our three student art galleries, making a visit to the UNT Galleries a new experience every week.  Students earning the BFA and MFA degrees organize an exhibition of their work as part of their academic achievement, student groups organize group and juried exhibitions around a particular medium or discipline, and faculty coordinate exhibitions from their courses.  Exhibitors reserve exhibition time in the galleries up to two or three semesters in advance.  We recommend contacting the gallery as early as possible to facilitate securing the week and the gallery of your choice.

Student Employment

CVAD students also work as part-time gallery sitters and art handlers.  Gallery sitters monitor the UNT Art Gallery and the Cora Stafford Gallery, greeting visitors, keeping a visitor count, observing the safety of artworks, answering phones and communicating with gallery staff.  Gallery technicians or art handlers assist installing and de-installing artworks for exhibitions, prepare the gallery walls before and after exhibitions, and maintain the gallery storage areas and equipment.

If you are interested in applying for a position at the UNT Art Gallery, please fill out the Gallery Employee Information Form, and email to Victoria DeCuir.
