Self-Assessment of Entry–Level Information Technology Knowledge & Skills

The Information Technology Knowledge & Skills (ITKS) Diagnostic Tool assists you in assessing your level of ITKS. This is a self-assessment, and only you see the scores resulting from using the tool. The Department of Library and Information Sciences has established Information Technology Knowledge and Skills that they believe are necessary for success in the Master’s Program. All students are presumed to have these skills when beginning their studies.

The diagnostic tool provides separate assessments in each of the following groups:

  1. Basic Computer Knowledge and Skills
  2. Word Processing
  3. Spreadsheet
  4. Database
  5. Presentation
  6. Internet
  7. Web Development

The recommended standard score of 75% in each of these groups demonstrates satisfactory readiness. Applicants and students who do not score at the 75% level should take remedial action to meet the entry–level requirements. The diagnostic tool will alert you to the group in which you need improvement.

The links below will take you to the different sections of the self-assessment.
