Welcome to the Department of Library and Information Sciences at the University of North Texas. The department is part of the College of Information which was formed in October 2008 and became a member of the iSchools in February, 2009. The department offers programs at the graduate and undergraduate level. Our programs have been nationally recognized. The Master of Science in Library and Information Sciences program is accredited by the American Library Association. The School Library Media Certification is 11th in the nation and is the first online program of its kind in the U.S. Our Medical Informatics program is 3rd in the nation and 1st in Texas. We offer the nation’s largest interdisciplinary PhD program in Information Science.
The Department of Library and Information Sciences is constantly evolving to meet the ever changing needs of the information and knowledge profession. We are dedicated to providing a challenging and nurturing environment to our students. Our commitment to quality education and community outreach are some of the guiding principles to our approach in educating and preparing thoughtful and effective leaders in the Information Science field.
