Miscellaneous but important Information

Student ID Information

A UNT Student ID is required in order to gain access to all computer labs and borrow library material while on campus. The ID Systems department is located in the Eagle Student Services Center and can be reached at 940-565-4481.

On Campus Computer Access

A valid UNT PHOTO ID is required for admission into the UNT General Access Computer Labs. Students without a valid UNT Photo ID may gain a one-time courtesy access by presenting another form of Photo ID (Driver's license, Passport, etc.). The lab attendant may keep the ID card while the student is in the lab. Students attempting to use the General Access Computer Labs without a valid UNT photo ID after being granted the one-time courtesy access, will be denied entry into the lab.

The computer lab in the Gateway Center is reserved for class instruction ONLY! Students may use the College of Information General Access Computer Lab at Discovery Park, Room B205 with a valid UNT Photo ID or use any of the other UNT General Access Computer Labs. The lab in the Information Science Building and the General Academic Building have extended night-time hours and the lab in the Willis Library is open 24 hours 7 days a week. There are terminals for class work only available in the reference sections of Willis library and the Science and Technology Library.

LIS students are encouraged to subscribed to SLIS-Announce-L, one of the many the vehicles for SLIS-related announcements. To subscribe, send an email to listserv@unt.edu. Leave the subject line blank; in the body of the message write subscribe SLIS-Announce-L followed by your first and last names.
Example: subscribe SLIS-Announce-L Melvil Dewey.
