Email Transition Information for Graduating Students

Graduation means you will also receive your “forever” email address as an alum of UNTHSC.  On June 14th, 2010 your Live ID ( your login name and primary e-mail address) will change from username@live.unthsc.edu to username@alum.unthsc.edu.  Your password will not change.  Your old live.unthsc.edu address will also remain as an alias or pointer for your account meaning that you will still be able to receive e-mail at that address.  Forwarding of mail from your old hsc.unt.edu address will cease on June 14th, 2010.

If you’ve never used your Live email account, you will need to log in with your new alumni address and temporary password, and follow the instructions found here.   Your username is typically the first letter of your first name, and the first 7 of your last name.  This is the same user name you use to log into wireless while on campus.  So your log in for Live, for example, would be msmith@alum.unthsc.edu.  Your temporary password is unthsc+4 digit year of birth (i.e. unthsc1980).

If you are still using Groupwise as your primary e-mail then you will need to move your e-mail to your existing Live@Edu account.  You’ll need to move all the messages you would like to keep to your Live account by June 14th, 2010.    For instructions on how to move messages between Groupwise and your Live account please consult the Live@UNTHSC website at http://www.hsc.unt.edu/liveatunthsc.  You may also contact/visit the IR Student Helpdesk at 817-735-2192 or email  studenthelpdesk@unthsc.edu for assistance in moving your mail.  The technicians will assist you in setting up the client, but they cannot move the mail for you.  

Again, forwarding of your mail from your hsc.unt.edu address will  cease on June 14, 2010.  You will need to notify all your contacts as soon as possible of your new email address. 

Still using GroupWise?

If you are still using GroupWise you will need to:

  • Activate your Live account if you haven’t already done so (see above link for instructions).
  • If desired, migrate/move email from GroupWise to Live (see instructions at the LIVE site www.hsc.unt.edu/liveatunthsc.)
  • If desired, move or copy calendar and contacts from GroupWise to Live.

 GROUPWISE IS GOING AWAY JUNE 14TH!  ACT NOW!
