New Online Onboarding Process
WHAT IS ONBOARDING?
The process that a new employee goes through to both provide and acquire needed information by day one. The process allows new employees to review benefits, parking, policies, payroll information, holiday schedules, and leave information as well as other required employee notices that will help them to become an effective employee.
WHO WILL USE THIS PROCESS?
The new online onboarding process was initially be rolled out to full and part-time faculty and staff. As of August 1, online onboarding became available to undergraduate student employees, graduate student employees and non-student hourly employees at all UNT System institutions beginning August 1.
WHAT DO I NEED TO DO?
Step 1: For Staff Hires - You will need to let the BSC know who you have selected for hire (same process as before). For Faculty Hires- You will continue to work with the Provost or your Campus HR department. They will notify us when they are ready for us to send the Onboarding Email to the new faculty member.
Step 2: The BSC will then send a Criminal History Authorization form to the selected candidate and will create an offer letter for you to sign.
Step 3: Once Criminal History and Drug Screen (where applicable) have been cleared, the BSC will send your signed offer letter to the employee. The offer letter will be attached to a “welcome onboarding email”. This email will contain instructions on how to complete the onboarding process.
Step 4: When the BSC sends the onboarding information to the candidate, an email is generated to you letting you know the candidate has received the information.
Step 5: When the candidate completes the onboarding process, an email will be sent to you (or the supervisor of record) letting you know that the process has been completed.
Step 6: On the first day of employment you will need to ensure the new employee provides documents to the individual in your department responsible for completing the I-9 employer verification.
