Double Bass

12th Annual Beginners and Intermediate Bass Camp: Jun 13–Jun 15; Instructor(s): Jeff Bradetich, Jack Unzicker, Jessica Gilliam Valls; For any aged beginner or intermediate player. Lots of playing and lots of fun with the opportunity to work with Mr. Bradetich, Mr. Seaton, and some of the top teachers of young bassists.
25th Annual Bradetich Double Bass Masterclass: Jun 11–Jun 15; Instructor(s): Jeff Bradetich; For advanced high school and college aged bass students. Five days of intense musical training including technique, orchestral and solo playing, and bass ensembles.
8th Annual Pirastro Strings Elite Soloists Program: Jun 4–Jun 8; Instructor(s): Jeff Bradetich; The Elite Soloists Program will accept only 5 students by audition to study with Jeff Bradetich. Daily lessons and solo classes will be held in a highly individualized program. Last year’s class included participants from major orchestras and young professionals. To apply, send a CD or tape of two different solo works to Jeff Bradetich, 1155 Union Circle #311367, Denton, TX 76203 by March 15, 2012. Thanks to the generous support of Pirastro Strings, this program offers free tuition, room and board.

Flute

Flute! Fundamentals for Teachers: Jun 11–Jun 15; Instructor(s): Mary Karen Clardy; Flute! Fundamentals for Teachers is a workshop for performers and teachers. Participants can observe master teaching and interact with both teacher and students in daily sessions. Basics of embouchure, breathing, tone production, articulation, and technique are addressed in classes.
Flute! High School Masterclass 2012: Jun 6–Jun 10; Instructor(s): Mary Karen Clardy; HS Flute! Masterclass 2012 is a class for high school flutists, and these sessions emphasize musical performance and preparation. Daily classes include warmup exercises, tone/technique development, and articulation studies, and provide opportunities for interaction of performer and listener. The masterclass concludes with a concert by members of the class.
Flute! Repertoire and Performance Masterclass: Jun 22–Jun 24; Instructor(s): Mary Karen Clardy; Flute! Repertoire and Performance Masterclass is a performance class for advanced performers, and these sessions emphasize musical performance and preparation. Daily classes include warmup exercises, tone/technique development, articulation studies, interaction of performer and listener, and the master class concludes with a concert by members of the class.

12th Annual Lynn Seaton Jazz Double Bass Workshop: Jun 11–Jun 15; Instructor(s): Lynn Seaton; For dedicated jazz bass players working on upright technique, developing walking bass lines, small group performance, theory and history. The Seaton Workshop is open to advanced high school, college, serious amateur, and professional bassists.

Marching Band

Drum Major Camp

Nicholas Williams, Director of the UNT Green Brigade, in conjunction with leadership consulting firm SASI, will host the annual Drum Major and Leadership camp at UNT. Current and future drum majors and student leaders will receive instruction from Nicholas Williams and the SASI staff.

The camp includes: Contemporary Conducting Preparation - curriculum created by Nicholas Williams and presented in small and large group settings - Modern Marching Instruction - as taught by the country's best high school and college marching bands and top ten DCI Drum and Bugle Corps - Effective Leadership Training - as presented to many outstanding performing groups and Fortune 500 companies

Who may attend: Current drum majors, future drum majors, student leaders, and potential student leaders are invited to attend!

2012 fees: Resident Tuition is $425.00 per participant and includes tuition and all room and board expenses. Commuter Tuition is $275.00 per participant and includes tuition and meal service.

Conducting Instruction

Participants will receive conducting training from Nicholas Williams (Assistant Director of Wind Studies at the University of North Texas) and Amanda Drinkwater (Director of Bands at Marcus High School). The SASI conducting curriculum is a fresh, modern approach to marching band.

Marching Instruction

Participants will receive innovative, corps style marching training from Jeremy Spicer , Associate Director of Bands and Director of the Marching Band at Cedar Park High School.

Leadership Development

Participants will receive leadership training from Ron Morrison, SASI, CEO and Director of Fine Arts for Pearland ISD. The SASI leadership & empowerment curriculum is a fresh, modern approach to leadership.

The University of North Texas CLAR-Essentials workshop is an intensive, educational, and fun workshop designed for advanced high school clarinetists. Daily events include group warm ups, clinics addressing refinement of fundamental skills, masterclasses, chamber music coaching, and evening recitals. The workshop concludes with a finale recital presented by chamber music groups
