The Constant in Our World and the Life of a Faculty Member

 

So, you have earned that highly coveted Ph.D., what happens next? Come and listen to Dr. Colleen Swain talk about navigating the waters of higher academia. Is a research position your best choice? What is the difference between a research position and a teaching position? Should you switch from teaching to administration? Where does your personal life fit in? The only thing we can truly say about the future in academics is that we can expect change.   Dr. Colleen Swain will talk about the changing roles we can expect in the future from a career in academia. Since obtaining her doctoral degree from the University of North Texas in Applied Technology, Training, and Development in 1997, Dr. Swain has a wide range of experiences in academia. She has been the leader of a large research strand. She received the best undergraduate teacher award from the University of Florida. Currently, Dr. Swain serves as Director of the School of Education at The University of Texas at Tyler. Come and talk with Dr. Swain about future changes in higher academia and how those changes will shape your career.
