LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) - Republican Congressman Tim Griffin of Arkansas has been promoted to lieutenant colonel in the U.S. Army Reserve.
Griffin's office on Monday announced that he had been awarded the increase in rank. Griffin is serving his 16th year in the Reserve Judge Advocates General's Corps and is assigned to the Southeast Medical Area Readiness Support Group.
Griffin is one of nine congressmen currently serving in the military.
Griffin is a former interim United States attorney who served in the White House under former President George W. Bush. He was elected to represent Arkansas' 2nd congressional district in 2010 and won re-election earlier this month.
